KING DIAMOND Still Signed To Metal Blade Records (For Now)
April 20, 2002KING DIAMOND are still officially signed to Metal Blade Records, despite recent rumors indicating that the company and the band have parted ways. However, according to manager Ole Bang, the current running agreement is approaching the date of the option for a new recording, and I have no info to the effect whether Metal Blade will take their option or not.
Rumors of a split between KING DIAMOND and Metal Blade have been running rampant since frontman and band namesake King Diamondpublicly expressed his displeasure with the amount of tour support extended to the band in order to enable them to embark on the road to promote the band's recently-issued Abigail II: The Revenge CD.
There are no plans [to tour] at all at the moment but this doesn't mean that there will not be a tour, Bang told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. Anything could happen.
If Metal Blade Records chooses not to exercise its contractual option to renew KING DIAMOND's agreement for another album, it will mark the end of a four-album collaboration that began with 1995's Spider's Lullabye. King Diamond's other band, MERCYFUL FATE, parted ways with Metal Blade in January after recording five albums for the label.
